Homes at Last: The Small Communities Initiative
A 15-min documentary commissioned by New Commons Development on behalf of the Government of Canada. This film showcases the struggles that small communities face when it comes to affordable housing in BC but thanks to some recent non-profit initiatives there are new solutions on the horizon.
When pandemic restrictions threatened to make Richard & Sarah’s 50th anniversary a strangely quiet and socially-distanced affair, their kids got together to coordinate a tribute from loved ones around the globe. This 40-minute film is a labor of love, told through the voices of their children, siblings, friends & family. It includes the story of how they met, what were their families’ first impressions and why they nearly broke up in the early going. Plus, entertaining insights and anecdotes of how they’ve been successful in staying together for the past 50 years.
What started as being hired to film the highlights of a big 60th birthday party turned into a 20-min documentary that celebrates Andrew’s life story through the eyes and words of his closest friends, family and colleagues. The birthday party was planned but the documentary that followed was a breathtaking surprise that not only celebrates this great man but leaves a legacy for his family to watch over and over again
The Sochi 2014 Olympics will be remembered for a lot of things. Corruption. Overblown budgets. Poor infrastructure. And Putin’s pride. It will also be remembered for months of international protest after Russia’s contentious decision to ban gay rights.
Fuelled by his passion for the Olympics, Vancouver journalist Jordan Wade travels to Sochi to witness first-hand the most controversial games of our generation.
Through interactions with athletes, academics, activists and Russian citizens, this film explores the evolution of the gay rights movement, the IOC’s role as a global facilitator, and the interplay of the Olympics and human rights. A dark moment in history – but perhaps a turning point for the Olympic movement.
Everyone deserves safe reproductive healthcare. With all eyes on South Korea for the biggest sporting event in the world in 2018, we headed to Seoul to find out about the shocking scandals that have people demanding change. Special thanks to Lunapads (now called Aisle) and Korea Exposé for their collaboration on this project!
In this commissioned project for the BNI BC Awards, Storyhero Media founder and 24-7 cyclist Jordan Wade was personally impacted when on Pride Weekend 2019 he had his beloved Bicycle stolen from Vancouver’s Davie Street. What could have led to a downward spiral of anger and blame took a turn for the positive thanks to the embodiment of a motto by business colleague Ian Moore. This short film was shown to 500 people in attendance at the BNI BC Awards in 2019 as part of their Annual Givers Gain award presentation.
